Make Your Own Scarecrow
At Bishop's Orchards
Weekend in October

The CDR’s popular “Make Your Own Scarecrow” fundraiser will once again be held at Bishop’s Orchards weekends starting October 1st. Bring the family down for a day of fun, food, and other festivities, October 1-2, 8-9, 15-16-17 & 22-23.

In preparation for our Scarecrow event, the CDR is collecting pantyhose! They form the structure of our Scarecrow bodies and we go through hundreds of pairs. If you have new, unworn pantyhose you’d like to donate (or see them on sale at a local discount store) please contact Melissa Branch, mbranch@communitydiningroom.org.

Lenny & Joe’s Carousel Ride Benefits CDR
Lenny & Joe’s Fish Tale Restaurant in Madison donated all proceeds from its popular carousel ride on Saturday, June 26th to the Community Dining Room (CDR). Fundraising Director for the CDR, Jayne Nunziante, said “Our thanks go to Lenny & Joe’s for their generous support of local non-profit organizations. We hope all of our shoreline neighbors will support Lenny & Joe’s and visit their carousel every Saturday to support other organizations. The money we receive from the event will help to support CDR’s nutritious meals and educational programs; services that are particularly critical during difficult economic times.”

Volunteer Dinner

On April 22nd, the CDR hosted a dinner at Owenego Inn to thank the dedicated volunteers that make our work possible. We were so pleased to share a lovely evening of food and fun with our friends and supporters. Thank you for your service these past 25 years, we look forward to working side by side for many more years. Thank you also to Owenego for sharing their beautiful banquet space with us. 7th annual Shoreline Walkathon
Over 200 people braved cloudy skies to participate in the 7th annual Shoreline Walkathon to benefit the Community Dining Room. Families, friends, children, and dogs strolled a scenic 2-mile route through Pawson Park, lead by Grand Marshall Keith Bishop of Bishop's Orchards and his granddaughter Grace. May 8th was also declared "Children Feeding Children Day" in the Town of Branford by First Selectman Anthony "Unk" DaRos recognizing the Dining Room's commitment to providing children and families with nutritious meals. The 7th annual walk helped raise over $7,000 for the CDR's programs and services.

The Business After Hours event saw Pat Kral and members of the CDR's Board of Directors dressed in full Alice in Wonderland costume and attendees were treated to wonderful food and festivities.
