How to Help

You can help support our programs by making a donation today!

Donate Money and increase your giving power. The Community Dining Room uses monetary donations to shop at the Connecticut Food Bank which is our major source for perishable foods.

Donate Securities: Giving appreciated securities might have additional tax benefits for you that should be discussed with your accountant or attorney. Contact the CDR for more specific information about how to make the donation.

Tax-Deductible Contributions: A tax-deductible contribution of any amount is a great help and is very much appreciated! Community Dining Room, Inc.’s Tax ID number is 22-3037133.

Checks can be made out to The Community Dining Room and mailed to:

Community Dining Room
30 Harrison Avenue
Branford, CT 06405

Your tax-deductible donation will support the many programs and services offered by the CDR to Shoreline residents including daily lunch, home delivery option, nutritional support for seniors, as well as family-friendly meals and activities on Tuesday night Kids’ Night.

To learn more about how your donation will be put to work, please contact our director, Judy Barron, at (203) 488-9750 or via email.

Non-Monetary Donations

Filling the shelves and freezers with food, cooking nutritious meals, delivering to homes and creating a welcoming dining experience requires an incredible amount of work and organization. Our volunteers make a difference every day when they donate their time to the CDR.

Please contact our volunteer coordinator at 203-488-9750 (ext.2) to set up an appointment.

Submitting your volunteer application is the first step required to start the volunteer process.

Every Donation Matters

The Community Dining Room relies on your donations to make our mission possible. Every donated item is critical to keep our food costs down.

Please consider conducting a food drive at your school, church, neighborhood, or business. A representative from the CDR is available to speak to your organization about our efforts to provide hot meals and companionship to shoreline neighbors.

A large portion of our food donations are provided by ongoing weekly support from local markets and restaurants. Weekly deliveries and volunteer pick-ups help keep our refrigerators, shelves, and freezers stocked for our volunteer chefs to prepare healthy meals every day.

We’d like to extend an extra special thank you to the following businesses for their ongoing support and generosity:

The largest percentage of our funding comes from private donations and foundation support. The Community Dining Room could not address hunger on the shoreline without the support of our generous sponsors through grants received in 2018. We thank you sincerely for your generosity and support.
